The Industrial Age Made It Possible

Of all the ages in history, the industrial age has always been the most fascinating to me. During this time, the world truly transformed into a civilized society that was capable of doing anything they put their minds to. While the world has now moved on to the technological era, I am still quite impressed by the accomplishments that the industrial era provided us. If it was not for these accomplishments, we would not be able to manufacturer many of the products that most people now use on a daily basis. That is why I wanted to start a blog that is completely dedicated to the accomplishments of industrial companies in today's society.

3 Ways To Repair Your Garbage Disposal

Are the blades of your garbage disposal not spinning when you hit the power button? If so, then this is likely caused by a food item too large for the blades of your garbage disposal to slice through and process into smaller pieces. Without a working garbage disposal, you can be left with a sink full of water, which can prevent you from doing dishes or from being able to prep your next meal. Well, to ensure your garbage disposal obtains repairs quickly, you may want to take matters into your own hands and attempt to:

Manually Spin the Disposal Blades:

It is likely that your garbage disposal came with a turning tool for the flywheel turning hole that is located at the bottom of your disposal unit. By using the turning tool and inserting it into the flywheel hold, you will be able to spin the blades by rotating your turning tool counter-clockwise. This will allow you to apply a bit more pressure when turning the blades so you can be able to slice through any food item that may be causing the blockage. Once you clear out any large food items from your disposal tray, you will likely be able to power your disposal unit like normal.

Pour Baking Soda into your Drain:

Often times grime and grease can prevent the blades of your disposal unit from being able to turn, which is why pouring baking soda down into your drain is a great option. The baking soda will have a powerful impact on the grime and grease sitting on your disposal blades, as it will help deteriorate it and break it down so it no longer impacts the performance of your garbage disposal.

Reset your Disposal Unit:

You may assume that because your garbage disposal is not powering on that it is likely due to a major complication. However, this issue can likely be resolved by a quick flip of a bottom. Near the bottom of your garbage disposal will sit a reset button. Resetting the circuit break of your garbage disposal can help tremendously, and easily fix any issue that you were experiencing. So, before you consider hiring a mechanic or buying replacement parts, consider resetting your disposal unit.

By trying out these tips, you will likely be able to get your garbage disposal back into working condition, so you can continue to use your sink without a clogged drain. So, rather than spend a great amount of money on garbage disposal repair kits or hire a plumber, you may find it easier and time efficient to attempt these repair methods on your own. However, if you've tried all of the above and still can't get your disposal going, don't be afraid to contact a professional, such as Roia Appliance.
